NEWS UPDATES : DRR Orientation Workshop For Children & Youth @ the Nigerian Redcross Youth Camp Ikorodu

The United  Nation MGCY DRR W&C Africa working group in Nigeria organisesd a one day workshop for children and youth on
Disaster Risk Reduction Orientation for youth at the annual Nigerian Redcross Ikorodu Divisional Youth Jamboree Camp.

The programm was held at Kit & Kin Nursery  and Primary school ibeshe in Ikorodu Lagos Nigeria.
The  DRR orientation workshop started with youth being sensitized on Disaster Risk Reduction and implementation programm
on the sendai framework.
The Nigerian school curricullum and most school curricullum in Africa do not have DRR implementation plan and Disaster risk Management plan,this makes it a great oppportunity for the children and youth to be engaged and be informed on Disaster management and implementation plan,and also a critical look on SDG 9 and how the world can ensure less disasters and a safer environment for all.


Disaster and Risk managent orientation was one of the key area that the youth were engaged on base on different regions.
Some Regions in Africa are prone to Disasters, Regions like the Niger Delta region in Nigeria.

The number of participants at the workshop was 80 children and youth at the workshop
and they also engaged theirselfs on how they come together and also do more of campaigning to their fellow youth and to their local community.

The program was surported by the Nigerian Redcross Ikorodu Division, MasterPeace Romania,Belouga and Global Humanitarian Network.
the facilatators of the workshop are MR. FADARE (Disaster Relief Adviser)Nigerian Redcross Ikorodu Division.Mr. M. Gibson(Youth Coordinator)Nigerian Redcross Ikorodu Division. Mr.Adedeji (training adviser Nigerian Redcross Ikorodu)& Nigerian Redcross Instructor. Mr Nsiagwai Sunday (CO REGIONAL FOCAL POINT)UNITED NATION MGCY DRR W&C AFRICA.


































The youth at the workshop ask more youth engagement and awareness on DRR in the Region.
