The Nigerian Redcross Lagos State Branch has started distributing Relief Packages in Lagod

As part of of our efforts to minimize the effect of the lockdown as a result of Covid 19 pandemic, Nigerian Red Cross Lagos State Branch distributed food stuffs to 250 vulnerable households within Makoko Community today Saturday 25th April, 2020. The distribution was flagged off by the former President of Nigerian Red Cross and  Committee Chairman, Lagos State Branch Covid 19 Intervention Committee, Mr. Emmanuel Ijewere ably assisted and supported by the Branch Chairman, Mrs. Adebola Kolawole and other members of the committee. Food items that would last a family of 6 for at least a week were distributed. The vulnerable beneficiaries of the intervention were identified and registered appropriately for the intervention after due community assessment. Top on the list of people who benefited from the distribution are the Aged, Widows, People living with disability, Pregnant women, Child parent etc.
Items distributed per family are: BAGS OF RICE, BEANS, GARRI , SACHETS OF SALTS and PALM OIL.
Makoko community is one among so many identified vulnerable communities but due to scarcity of resources at the moment, Lagos State Branch of Nigerian Red Cross decided to source for funds within and address the issue of hunger occasioned by the lockdown.
We like to appeal for support and collaboration with people and spirited organizations for us to be able to reach more people through this intervention.
